Weekend Sports Anchor
About The Position
KRDO13’s dominant sports team is looking for a Weekend Sports Anchor/MMJ. The ideal candidate must be a go-getter who moves beyond scores and highlights. We go big with high school and college sports and all the professional teams in Colorado, including the Broncos, Avalanche and Nuggets. The successful candidate will understand the value of finding unique storylines in everyday press conferences, games and in the locker room. We are also looking for someone who can regularly generate and execute hyper-local sports stories from our market. The Weekend Sports Anchor/MMJ must have previous on-air experience at a commercial television station. This is not a starter position. The successful candidate must have a dynamic and energetic on-air presence with the ability to go live on the fly to help carry extended live coverage around big games and sporting events. The Weekend Sports Anchor/MMJ must also have previous shooting and editing experience and must be comfortable doing both every day.
Requirements
- At least 2-3 years of experience in an on-air sports role at a commercial television station. This is not a starter position.
- Shooting and editing experience is a must.
- Must be a go-getter and team player with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to shift schedule regularly based on coverage needs.
- Detail-oriented and ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
- A. or B.S. Degree preferably in journalism or English.
- Good driving record
Responsibilities
- Anchor and produce sports segments on the weekend and as needed during the week
- Anchor a produce a weekly sports program
- Shoot and edit games, press conferences, locker room interviews and packages
- Regularly go live from the field at games and other events
- Regularly enterprise and execute hyper-local sports stories each week
- Produce daily content for KRDO13 digital platforms
- Establish and maintain sports contacts in the community
- Lead by example at all times
