About The Position

The Weekend Program Coordinator and Studio Technician will assist in managing the daily logistics of the Art Center, including supervising, maintaining, and overseeing the fine arts studio facilities, supplies and equipment to ensure the safe and coordinated operations of studio procedures in Art Center classes and workshops. During weekend programs, the Weekend Program Coordinator and Studio Technician will also be the senior point of contact for faculty and student support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in art education, art history or a visual arts-related discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in an educational or arts environment.
  • Strong organizational, verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, efficiently and on multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong and demonstrable working knowledge of visual arts media, processes, materials and history, including knowledge regarding the safe handling of studio materials.
  • Strong proficiency in the use Microsoft Office with previous experience with Tessitura preferred.
  • Willing to learn new equipment and processes as required.

Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the Art Center team, reviews and evaluates current programming activities and identifies and develops new areas to facilitate the growth of programming.
  • Interacts and engages with faculty and students, responding positively and efficiently to questions or concerns raised and providing effective pragmatic solutions.
  • Responsible for maintaining, ordering, and organizing children and adult drawing, painting, printmaking, and collage supplies, the Art Center Library and still life materials, as well as ensuring all arts studios and equipment are maintained to the required standards.
  • Supports students by responding to student requests for refunds, credits and class changes during office hours.
  • Recruits and schedules figure models at the request of Art Center faculty staff members.
  • Responsible for training faculty and staff on the proper and safe use and disposal of hazardous materials and chemicals.
  • Works with faculty to create student supply lists and manage room and studio set-ups.
  • Supports the Art Center team with public events including Open Houses, exhibitions in the Weill Art Gallery, lectures and other events.
  • In collaboration with the Customer Service team, manages and organizes locker rentals.
  • Performs other related duties as requested or assigned.
