About The Position

The Weekend Laboratory Supervisor performs a variety of laboratory tests, many of which involve numerous steps and techniques, and require the use of professional judgment. Tests are conducted in various departments including Blood Bank, Coagulation, Hematology, Urinalysis, Microbiology, and Chemistry. The role requires the professional application of clinical laboratory science theories and techniques, including the evaluation of quality control data, to ensure reliable test results for clinical diagnosis and treatment. Additionally, the supervisor performs a variety of supervisory functions, encompassing administrative duties, personnel management, and problem resolution. The position may involve access to medication storage areas (excluding controlled substances) as relevant to job responsibilities.

Requirements

  • For MT (ASCP): Must have B.S. degree in Medical Technology or at least sixty semester hours of college with training in a certified Medical Technology training program.
  • For MT (ASCP): Must be currently registered and a member of the American Society of Clinical Pathology.
  • For MT (Non-ASCP): Must have B.S. degree in Medical Technology or at least sixty semester hours of college with training in a certified Medical Technology training program.
  • For MT (Non-ASCP): Must be either eligible for the ASCP exam or Registered as a Medical Technologist with AMT.
  • For Medical Laboratory Technician: Must have an associate’s degree as a Medical Laboratory Technician and be registered or eligible by ASCP or AMT.
  • Must have at least two years work experience.
  • Must demonstrate accountability in the correct performance of test procedures, reporting of accurate results, and the proper use of quality control materials.
  • Must possess full range of body motion to pass basic FIT test for position to include walking, kneeling, standing, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, reaching and sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
