The Department of Horticulture in the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture seeks an individual who will develop and lead a highly effective and nationally recognized extension and applied research program in weed control in turfgrass, vegetation, and forage management. This is a non-tenured assistant or associate professor position with a 75% extension and 25% research appointment. This position will provide leadership in horticultural weed control for the state and complement related Departmental and faculty programs in this area. This position will be responsible for development and implementation of relevant and up-to-date extension education programs that positively impact Arkansas turfgrass industries and forage management (e.g. golf course, sports field, sod, lawn care, forages, and roadside management). This position is expected to provide training, collaboration, and support that strengthens the excellence of local county extension agents and programs. In addition, this position will develop a targeted problem-solving applied research program and exercise effective grantsmanship in support of extension and research efforts. Extensive travel in the state and collaboration with interdisciplinary faculty, county extension agents, growers, and industry personnel on best management systems and sustainability will be key to success.
