About The Position

Develop personal and professional education opportunities for existing customers in short-term classes, as well as for new and expanding markets. Support and collaborate with WED Coordinators and adjunct staff to deliver high quality curriculum and instruction.

Requirements

  • This position requires a minimum of 4 years' experience at various organizational levels in assessing program needs, developing training programs, evaluating and selecting class materials and instructors.
  • Have a working knowledge of curriculum design and educational best practices (i.e. - instructional pacing, quality assessments, and relevant learning objectives).
  • Leadership experience is required.
  • Valid state issued driver's license.
  • LERN Certified Program Planner and Business and Industry Certification required, but may be obtained after employment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the development and maintenance of curriculum for short-term courses and programs to provide timely, high quality information and instruction to students.
  • Collect, compile and disseminate curriculum objectives and program information to both internal and external customers, promoting the mission, programs and learning services of the district, assuring program alignment across multiple campuses, as well as between full-time and short-term programs.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with state, local and national organizations and regulatory agencies, and provide documentation regarding curriculum in order to sustain cooperative agreements and industry certifications from various agencies or professional organizations.
  • Design, develop and instruct professional development workshops for individuals engaged in short-term instruction and the coordination of short-term instruction.
  • Provide post training support for instructors, both collectively and individually, to assure the quality of instruction throughout the school district reflects the highest level of professionalism and utilizes classroom learning strategies most appropriate for the curriculum and consistent with district objectives.
  • Provide development, delivery, and assessment of online courses utilizing the district's learning management system (Blackboard).
  • Collaborate with internal customers to develop and maintain processes for determining prior credit standards and approval, as well as prior skills and knowledge assessments related to short-term programs.
  • Participate in the assessment of data to identify, recommend, and create new short-term courses for the upcoming term.
  • Collaborate with WED Coordinators in the research and development of new short-term programs, as well as the revision of existing programs, which reflect projected needs of the community and workforce.
  • Collaborate with the Instructional Services department, campus administration, and adjunct and full-time instructors to gather program information and curriculum advisement.
  • Assist with the identification and recruitment of capable adjunct instructors to develop curriculum, instruct, and serve as advisors to short-term programs.
  • Participate in relevant community/industry advisory committees to promote interaction among students and practitioners, assure the short-term program curriculum remains a current reflection of job market skills requirements, and to facilitate placement of students.
  • Maintain current knowledge of curriculum trends, educational standards, and relevant guidelines, including copyright regulations.
  • Perform all other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
