About The Position

Under the general direction of the District Director of Communications, the Website Manager is responsible for implementing, managing and optimizing the performance, accessibility and usability of Spokane Colleges websites, encompassing the District, Spokane Community College (SCC) and Spokane Falls Community College (SFCC). The Website Manager will work collaboratively with other members of the District Marketing and Public Relations and Information Technology departments to support the strategic goals and initiatives established by the district executive team and college leadership. The position serves as the primary point of contact for districtwide website requests and ensures all Spokane Colleges web properties follow modern web design standards, including implementing Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Answer Engine Optimization (AEO), and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO).

Requirements

  • Associate degree or certification in web and/or visual communication design, or related field.
  • Two or more years of website management experience in an open-source or enterprise web content management system.
  • Knowledge of the principles of implementing responsive design and mobile optimization.
  • Proficient understanding and testing of cross-browser compatibility issues.
  • Strong understanding of SEO, AEO, GEO principles and Google Analytics (GA4).
  • Practical, professional-level experience using all or some of the following: Adobe Creative Cloud software, CSS, HTML, XTML.
  • Familiarity with website design best practices, including UX design principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain an integrated multi-organization website that is easy to navigate, incorporates brand principles, and is visually and functionally effective.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication and collaborative skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to work as an effective team member in a creative environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in web coding, visual communication design or related field.
  • Exposure to some or all of the following: NET Framework, XML, PHP.
  • Experience with enterprise content management systems (CMS).
  • Experience working in a distributed web content management environment.
  • Familiarity with the role community and technical colleges fulfill in meeting the higher education needs of the regions they serve.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Spokane Colleges (District, SCC, and SFCC).

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and support the Spokane Colleges websites to effectively communicate, maximize usability and enhance the overall customer experience.
  • Coordinate web design elements and content with Spokane Colleges graphic designers and department leadership to maintain brand standards and consistency.
  • Work consistently with Spokane Colleges Information Technology (IT) web team to ensure seamless integration of front-end to back-end functionality.
  • Serve as a collaborative member of the districtwide website project team and assist in training website users in best practices to maintain and enhance websites.
  • Collaborate with Spokane Colleges partners to integrate online advertising analytics on the website.
  • Continually evaluate and update website functionality and features to support the changing needs of district, student, and instructional services.
  • Regularly test website functionality and analytics, providing reports on search engine optimization (SEO), Answer Engine Optimization (AEO), and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), Google Analytics metrics and KPIs (key performance indicators).
  • Serve as a core member and department implementation lead for the districtwide website migration and relaunch project, partnering with outside vendors, IT, and District Director of Communications.
  • Model professional decorum and mutual respect in all personal interactions.
  • Comply with district policies, procedures and directives, state and federal regulations, orders and statutes and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Support and advance the Spokane Colleges strategic plan and perform other duties as assigned.
