ABOUT THE GALVESTON PARK BOARD In 1963, the citizens of Galveston voted to create a specialized unit of government called the Park Board of Trustees of the City of Galveston. The organization is responsible for overseeing Galveston's tourism efforts, Galveston Island Beach Patrol (GIPB) and Coastal Zone Management (CZM). The Park Board is funded primarily through Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) and beach user fees for the parks that they manage. Tourism pays for tourism as no sales or property tax is collected by the Park Board. The nine-member board is comprised of volunteer residents with diverse business experience. Each is required to serve at least two years and must also serve on one of the Park Board's advisory committees. We are on a mission to promote and support tourism on Galveston Island in order to foster an environment that establishes a great place to live, work, and visit. YOUR ROLE AS WEBSITE CONTENT STRATEGIST As Website Content Strategist, you are essential to our organization and our community. Your job is to help ensure that vacation-ready individuals find their perfect getaway here in Galveston. As part of your duties, you help drive traffic to our website and ensure that it's SEO-maximized and user-friendly. Using our CRM and CMS platforms, you manage the content on the website, update blogs, add special events, and more. Your goal is to provide as much informational, educational, and entertaining content as you can to entice potential visitors and prepare them for an amazing stay with us. A go-to for all things CRM and CMS, you act as technical support for our team, and you analyze our website metrics to see if we are reaching our goals. When we fall short, you tweak and adjust our strategies to keep our platforms on top of their game. You also work with website platforms and vendors, as well as third-party integrations and plugins, to ensure functionality, performance, accessibility compliance, and alignment with brand and user experience standards. Goal-driven and innovative, you are always thinking of new ways to get the word out about Galveston Island as a premier leisure and meetings destination. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, digital media or a related field OR 5+ years of relevant experience in destination marketing, hospitality, or digital content strategy
  • Experience with website creation, CRM, and CMS platforms
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite as well as the ability to learn new software and online platforms
  • Working knowledge of SEO best practices and content optimization for traditional and AI-driven search environments (GEO)
  • Familiarity with website analytics tools such as Google Analytics and the ability to translate data into actionable insights
  • Valid Class C driver's license
  • Willingness to receive training to become a Certified Tourism Ambassador
