About The Position

This position works to promote the effective use of web technologies to support health system functions. By combining their knowledge of computer hardware and software, web development, administration tools, and applications residing on both the servers and personal computers, the Web Support Specialist assists health system employees and business units in applying web-computing tools to analyze and communicate information. They work independently with teams and individuals to develop new functionality for the Intranet based on user requirements. The Web Support Specialist will train IT and end user staff as required. They will work closely with content publishers to insure proper use of design standards and processes. They learn software to administer the Intranet and assume primary application administrative duties. They work closely with selected vendors and internal IT staff to keep the Intranet and, as appropriate, the enterprise content management system running properly.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in IT, Business or related field is required.
  • Two years database application development experience and a good working knowledge of personal computers and/or other application development experience is required.
  • One year web related content creation and use of content and administrative tools.
  • In depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • One year SQL administration experience.
  • Mandatory Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training must be completed annually according to the Exposure Control Plan.
  • Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.
  • Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.
  • Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.
  • Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).
  • Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
  • Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.
  • Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
  • Physical Demand Level: Sedentary. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 0-10 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Specific knowledge of our Intranet administration tools, Filenet, Websphere, Cold Fusion, and Java preferred.

Responsibilities

  • (25%) Design and Administration of applications and content Intranet servers. Expert knowledge of Cold Fusion, FileNet, Java, SQL and analytics reporting software must be acquired and used. Reports will be made on a regular basis documenting use of the Intranet.
  • (10%) Provide publishers of content with training and support.
  • (25%) Work closely with enterprise content management support position for support on Intranet and document management projects and support.
  • (20%) Implement new technology as required by assigned projects.
  • (20%) Researches, analyzes, and recommends solutions to user problems or inquiries, using available journals, Internet options and other system tools.
  • Meets with individuals and teams to determine functional requirements. Designs and writes code to implement those requirements.
