About The Position

A Swine Technician in a Wean-to-Finish system manages the daily care of pigs
from weaning until they reach market weight focusing on health, and welfare of
pigs. This role involves performing tasks related to animal husbandry, health
management, feeding, marketing and facility maintenance to ensure the highest
standards of swine production.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent experience.
• Experience in animal husbandry or swine production is preferred but not required
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Must have reliable method of transportation to get to work

Responsibilities

• Daily monitoring of health and follow protocols.
• Ensuring proper barn temperature, ventilation, and air quality.
• Barn preparation between groups of pigs.
• Assisting with pigs’ movements.
• Managing feeding schedules, cleaning feeders, checking waterers, and ensuring optimal feed availability for growth.
• Maintaining accurate daily records.
• Pig market selection and marketing.
• Strict adherence to biosecurity protocols.
• Follow animal welfare, biosecurity regulations and company policies.
• Light groundskeeping and upkeep around the farm
• Power washing
• Light maintenance
• Other duties and projects assigned by the Farm Manager.
