About The Position

Spend your summer with our industry experts (Certified Financial Planners, Certified Financial Analysts, and Certified Public Accountants) building relationships and learning what it takes to offer exceptional service in helping our high-net-worth clients achieve their financial goals. In this eight-week program (typically first week of June until end of July) you will work with a variety of client service teams, assisting our Wealth Managers in providing wealth management services at a Registered Investment Advisory firm, including, preparing for client meetings, preparation of long-range wealth plans, net worth and cash flow statements, and various other analyses. Requirements

  • Proficiency in Excel and Word required
  • Effective communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Initiative-taking with good judgement and integrity
  • Impeccable ability to maintain confidentiality
  • A collaborator
  • Working towards a bachelor’s or master’s degree. Prefer majors in financial planning, accounting, finance, or economics and/or candidates who are seeking a Certificate in Financial Planning in the future.

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework in personal financial planning is a plus (e.g.: retirement planning, employee benefits, insurance, investment vehicles, asset allocation, estate planning techniques, income taxation, and executive compensation)

Responsibilities

  • Work with experienced CFP professionals on tasks that successfully take you through the financial planning process. This includes but is not limited to gathering financial information to prepare net worth and cash flow statements, learning client’s goals, creating a customized plan and making recommendations around investments, insurance and estate planning.
  • Be trained on how to use our financial planning software
  • Prepare long-term capital sufficiency analyses by inputting client’s financial planning assumptions, such as personal financial goals, current financial data, tax rates, and inflation and investment assumptions, into our financial planning software
  • Proactively assist Wealth Managers with client meeting preparation
  • Potential to sit in on client meetings
  • Participate in a series of training sessions (Personal and Professional Development, Business Development, Investment Strategy and Research)
  • Prepare and present a capstone project
