JOB TITLE: WCC AmeriCorps Individual Placement - Recreation Technician with Pilot Hill Inc. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Compensation: $8,000 living stipend + $1.956.35 Segal Education Award Term of Service: This position has a 450-hour term of service beginning May 18 and ending August 19. Schedule may include occasional evenings, holidays, weekends and variable shifts, primarily in peak times and for events. Position Overview: The Wyoming Conservation Corps (WCC) is seeking applicants to fill an AmeriCorps Individual Placement position with a partner organization. The position has a 450-hour term of service. This Wyoming Conservation Corps AmeriCorps Individual Placement (IP) member serves as a member of the Pilot Hill Inc. (non-profit org) team in support of developed recreation trails and open-space management projects on the 7100-acre Pilot Hill Recreation & Wildlife Habitat Management Area. Duties for the position support the Pilot Hill mission and goals, and consist of a variety of patrols and projects including in dispersed and developed areas within the Pilot Hill management area boundary in Albany County WY, including:

Requirements

  • AmeriCorps participants must be U.S. citizens, nationals, or lawful permanent residents
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 18 years of age
  • Satisfy the National Service Criminal History Check eligibility criteria
  • Ability to lift 30+ lbs with or without a reasonable accommodation
  • Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) compliant with the Driving for University Business SAP

Responsibilities

  • Public education and information of Pilot Hill rules and regulations, Leave No Trace practices to visitors.
  • Patrol of Pilot Hill trails, fence lines, dispersed areas, and property access sites adjacent to the City of Laramie and the Pole Mountain Unit of the Medicine Bow National Forest to monitor conditions, report findings and perform assigned duties.
  • Install and/or maintain property signage, fences, access site amenities, information kiosks and other user amenities.
  • Support non-motorized recreational travel by regular trail inspections and maintenance of trails.
  • Perform maintenance and clean the trailhead including, parking lot, picnic areas, group gathering sites and other facilities including bathrooms.
  • Assist event organizers with set-up needs, inspect event spaces after events for compliance with agreements, and represent Pilot Hill to competitors and spectators.
  • Assist with volunteer projects with local partner clubs as scheduled.
  • Collect and maintain field data and trail surveys as directed.
  • Serve independently on trails and other assigned projects and provide support/assistance for volunteer crew trail projects.
