About The Position

Kalahari Resorts & Conventions is seeking a Director of Waterpark position. In this role, you’ll be responsible for the administration, operation, and direct management necessary to achieve stated objectives in guest and associate safety, sanitation and cleanliness, equipment safety/repairs, sales/profitability, costs, employee retention, and guest service satisfaction of all Resort venues located in the indoor and outdoor waterpark. This is an exempt full-time position, with various work hours and days, based on business needs. This position regularly requires evening and weekend work. You’ll enhance the guest and associate experience by leading safe, engaging waterpark operations and fostering a positive work environment that empowers associates to deliver exceptional service. The anticipated hire date for this position is Spring 2026.

Requirements

  • We do require a minimum of 5 years’ experience in operational floor management/director role preferred, with a leadership background in a large water park or recreational facility.
  • Previous lifeguard experience required, along with extensive knowledge of leisure activities, commercial recreation, and/or large waterpark in a “for profit” setting.
  • Significant experience with guest services and conflict resolution.
  • Experience with scheduling and managing labor budget.
  • Experience with Hiring & Retention initiatives.
  • Basic knowledge of Human Resource law and function.
  • You must have the ability to pass Kalahari’s lifeguard certification.
  • Must be able to frequently move throughout the waterpark.
  • Must be able to walk, climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms.
  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Pool Operator Certification.
  • P&L Statement knowledge.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, Sports and Recreation, Hotel/Resort Management or related area from a four-year college or university preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the waterpark, ensuring safety, cleanliness, and efficiency while delivering a memorable guest experience.
  • Lead, train, and mentor associates to foster a positive, high-performing team culture focused on guest satisfaction.
  • Develop and implement operational procedures, policies, and safety protocols to maintain compliance and operational excellence.
  • Manage budgets and resources, including staffing, supplies, and maintenance, to optimize park performance and profitability.
  • Analyze guest feedback and performance metrics to identify opportunities for improvement and drive continuous enhancements.
