A Waterpark Bag Check associate will provide a genuine smile and friendly, responsive service to guests to help create a beyond expectation experience to guests coming and going from the indoor and outdoor waterpark. Bag Check associates will ensure guests are not bringing in prohibited items to any of the parks for the sake of safety; items include outside food and beverage, glass containers (including coffee mugs), and weapons. Associates are to actively participate as a team and use core values and service expectations listed in the Kalahari Promise daily.

Requirements

  • Able to greet guests warmly and maintain a friendly, calm demeanor during busy periods
  • Comfortable explaining bag‑check policies clearly and respectfully
  • Capable of de‑escalating minor frustrations or misunderstandings
  • Maintains awareness of surroundings and guest flow
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive bag‑inspection motions
  • Comfortable working in high‑traffic, high‑noise environments
  • Basic understanding of safety protocols (training can be provided)
  • Ability to recognize potential hazards (e.g., glass containers, sharp objects, alcohol)
  • Must be able to frequently communicate and develop rapport with guests and associates and have a working relationship with the resort management team
  • Must be able to work in a stationary position for long periods of times
  • Stand for extended periods and perform repetitive inspection motions
  • Lift, move, or inspect guest belongings of varying sizes and weights
  • Work in high‑traffic, high‑noise environments both indoors and outdoors
  • Must be able to work and be flexible with all shifts, weekends, and holidays

Responsibilities

  • Conduct swift, thorough inspections of guest bags, coolers, strollers, and personal items according to resort safety standards
  • Identify and enforce rules regarding prohibited items, including glass, weapons, outside food and beverage, and unsealed or filled water bottles
  • Allow small, pre‑approved snack items in accordance with resort policy
  • Provide guests with a designated bucket to empty water bottles or dispose of prohibited contents safely
  • Confirm that each guest has a properly colored wristband for waterpark access
  • Direct guests without valid wristbands to the waterpark front desk for assistance
  • Greet guests warmly and maintain a friendly, professional demeanor during all interactions
  • Clearly explain bag‑check policies and reasons for restrictions when needed
  • Assist with line flow, answer basic guest questions, and provide directions to nearby amenities
  • Follow all safety protocols to ensure a secure environment for guests and team members
  • Recognize and escalate suspicious behavior, prohibited items, or safety concerns to security or management
  • Maintain a clean and organized bag‑check area, including proper handling and disposal of restricted items
  • Work quickly and accurately to keep entry lines moving during peak times
  • Adapt to indoor and outdoor environments, including varying weather conditions
  • Support crowd‑flow management to prevent bottlenecks at entry points
  • Assist teammates as needed to maintain consistent service standards
