About The Position

HDR’s Water/Wastewater Engineer will: develop comprehensive designs of water and wastewater treatment plants, including performing hydraulic calculations, performing and analyzing water quality, writing reports, and developing plans and technical specifications; perform complex assignments to decide significant design and engineering procedures as needed; prepare scopes, schedules, and budgets; coordinate process design with other multidisciplinary engineering teams, clients and contractors; participate in field investigations, site visits, and construction inspections; assist in value engineering solutions; serve as a Project Manager on water/wastewater projects. as needed; conduct quality control reviews of completed designs; and review work of and mentor junior staff as needed.

Requirements

  • A Master’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a closely related engineering field and 2 years of experience in water/wastewater engineering or a Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a closely related engineering field and 5 years of experience in water/wastewater engineering.
  • Experience may include professional, internship, or university research or teaching experience and must include experience in: water/wastewater infrastructure projects; water quality analysis; biological treatment processes and systems; physical and chemical treatment processes and systems; statistical analysis; AutoCAD; and MS Excel.
  • Accepting licensed and unlicensed candidates.
  • Professional Engineer licensure is not a prerequisite for this position.
  • Local travel for site supervision at least once a month.
  • Regional travel or National travel for conferences up to four times per year.
