About The Position

Under general supervision of the Recreation Aquatic Supervisor II, the Aquatic Fitness Instructor is responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading safe, effective, and engaging fitness classes at Ogden City aquatic facilities. The instructor promotes health and wellness in the community by providing a positive experience for participants of all skill levels and ensuring a safe aquatic environment.

Requirements

16 Years or older
Current Water Safety Instructor Certification by the Red Cross.
Current CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid Certification (required prior to employment)
Strong swimming skills and a through understanding of swimming techniques and water safety.
Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to effectively instruct participants of all ages and skill levels
Dependable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours

Nice To Haves

Experience teaching swimming lessons preferred but not required

Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging and effective swimming lessons for participants of varying ages and abilities using approved curriculum.
Assess participants' swimming skills to determine appropriate class placement and progression.
Modify lesson plans as needed to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
Provide clear instructions, demonstrations, and constructive feedback to participants.
Maintain a safe environment by enforcing pool rules and safety guidelines.
Monitor participants during lessons to prevent accidents or injuries.
Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies, administering first aid or CPR if necessary.
Communicate with parents/guardians to provide progress updates and answer questions.
Keep accurate records of attendance, participant progress, and lesson plans.
Assist with the setup and teardown of lesson equipment and notify the supervisor of any damaged or malfunctioning items.
