About The Position

Barr is seeking a senior water resources engineer to join their Bismarck team. In this hybrid role, the engineer will work with multidisciplinary project teams, providing project and/or task management and technical support for the Water Resources group. Assignments may include hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, GIS, and CADD work. The ideal candidate should possess strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, proven task or project management skills, and a willingness to collaborate in a high-energy environment that encourages self-initiative.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil/environmental engineering with emphasis on water resources.
  • 10+ years of water resources engineering experience with a focus on hydrology, hydraulics, or water quality.
  • Experience with project management.
  • Experience with proposals, business development and client management.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Knowledge of commonly used hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software, 1D and 2D hydraulic modeling software, GIS, and CADD software.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with project team members, regulators, and clients.
  • Possession of a current, valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree or PhD in civil or environmental engineering with a focus on hydrology and/or hydraulics.
  • Experience with water quality modeling and analysis.
  • Experience with site development design, plans, and/or specifications.
  • Construction observation, fieldwork, and surveying experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hydraulic and hydrologic analysis, including hydrologic analysis related to stormwater planning and flood control, and hydraulic analysis and design related to storm sewer infrastructure, rivers, streams, conveyances, dams, and other hydraulic structures.
  • Assist with the preparation of technical reports, plans, and specifications, and work with clients, permitting agencies, and public officials.
  • Assist with planning, coordinating, and executing projects, ensuring project milestones are met and providing regular updates to project managers and clients.
