The ideal candidate will combine technical depth in hydrologic/hydraulic (H&H) modeling, flood mitigation and stormwater control measure (SCM) design. Join our Water Resources team to lead and support a variety of civil and environmental projects, delivering projects that improve watershed health, reduce flood risk, and enhance water quality through innovative infrastructure and resilient design.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license and ability to expand licensure in states within SEH’s east region, or ability to obtain within 2-3 years.
  • Demonstrated experience in stormwater management and/or water resources design.
  • Experience using hydrologic and hydraulic modeling tools (e.g., HEC‑HMS, HEC‑RAS (1D/2D), GeoHECRAS, StormCAD, StormWise, HydroCAD, PCSWMM, XPSWMM, EPA SWMM, WinSLAMM).
  • Experience with ArcGIS and AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of stormwater infrastructure design principles, construction document preparation, technical specifications, development of cost estimates, and permitting processes.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and coordination skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing effectively to project team goals and community‑focused outcomes.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) credential or experience with floodplain management practices.
  • Experience in project management and client coordination.
  • Experience supporting business development activities, including fostering client relationships and proposal development.
  • Ability to present technical information clearly in team, client, or public settings.

Responsibilities

  • Provide design and analysis for projects involving stormwater management, flood mitigation, watershed studies, and water quality improvement for municipal and private clients.
  • Perform design and analysis of stormwater infrastructure including detention and retention basins, open channels, storm drain networks, and stormwater control measures (SCMs).
  • Conduct hydrologic, hydraulic, and water quality modeling using software such as HEC‑HMS, HEC‑RAS (1D/2D), GeoHECRAS, StormCAD, StormWise, HydroCAD, PCSWMM, XPSWMM, EPA SWMM, and WinSLAMM.
  • Complete floodplain studies and prepare documentation for FEMA CLOMR/LOMR submittals and No‑Rise certifications.
  • Develop technical documentation, including design reports, construction plans, and specifications, ensuring accuracy, quality control, and compliance with applicable local, state, and federal standards.
  • Support permitting activities and coordinate with regulatory agencies and local jurisdictions.
  • Collaborate with our multidisciplinary team of engineers and designers to integrate water resources solutions into broader project designs.
  • Perform field work and site visits throughout project phases, including study, design, and construction.
  • Assist with tracking project schedules, budgets, deliverables, and client communications.
