About The Position

Summary We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Water Resources Engineer to join our growing North Carolina land development team. As a water resources engineer, you will be responsible for the planning, analysis, design, and permitting of stormwater management systems as part of our land development projects. You’ll work closely with staff civil engineers and surveyors, municipal planners, and contractors to deliver projects that balance regulatory compliance, cost efficiency, and environmental responsibility. Work Location: On-site with flexible work arrangements Pay Rate Type: Hourly with overtime rate of 1.5x base pay for all hours worked over 40 in a week (Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications)

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field
  • 4+ years of experience in water resources or land development engineering
  • North Carolina Professional Engineer (PE) license (or ability to attain within 12 months)
  • Proficiency with H&H modeling software and CAD tools (Civil 3D preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of stormwater regulations, including MS4, NPDES, and local ordinances
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Prior project management experience (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Design and model stormwater management systems, including detention/retention basins, green infrastructure, and low-impact development (LID) features
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling using software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, Hydraflows Hydrographs, Hydraflows Storm Sewers, HydroCAD, or similar
  • Prepare drainage reports, stormwater management plans, and supporting documentation for permitting and construction
  • Assist in regulatory approvals and interface with local, state, and federal agencies
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate water resource design into overall site development plans
  • Review designs for compliance with jurisdictional criteria and client objectives
  • Support project management tasks, including scheduling, budgeting, team coordination, and client communication
