About The Position

RS&H seeks a Water Resources/Drainage Engineering Associate I to join our Infrastructure Group. This position will be based out of our St. Charles, IL, office. Job Summary: This position is responsible for drainage design and production of plans and reports. Will support the development of stormwater management, stormwater collection and conveyance, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, water quality design, environmental permitting, and sustainability practices. Accepted and innovative water resources engineering practices are applied to the following clients IDOT, other state transportation agencies, regional airports, and local agencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 0-2 years relevant experience.
  • Certification as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT).
  • Proficient in production software and construction document production.
  • Must possess strong oral and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with the following:
  • Watershed delineation and determination of hydrological parameters
  • Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling(HEC-HMS, HY-8, HEC-RAS, SMS SRH-2D, SWMM, and ICPR/StormWise)
  • Drainage Analysis and Design using Geopak Drainage and Subsurface Utilities Design and Analysis (SUDA) for Open Roads Designer (ORD)
  • CADD (Microstation SS10, ORD, and/or Civil 3D)
  • ArcGIS for water resources projects
  • Plans, Specifications, and Estimates production

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes and interprets data.
  • Performs analyses of design, planning, and impact studies, as well as cost analyses, design requirements, site selection, and limited design layouts.
  • Designs a complete project, system, component, or process and prepares project documents, engineering analysis, and reports.
  • Performs quality control reviews and ensures achievement of key milestones.
  • Perform as-needed field reviews and observations of ongoing construction projects to maintain and increase understanding of construction practices and design applications.
  • Formulates and solves problems with timely and innovative solutions.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned and within the scope of practice.
