About The Position

The Water Quality Technician is responsible for ensuring the safety, cleanliness, and regulatory compliance of water systems at the Gaylord Pacific Resort and Convention Center, employed through Innovative Attraction Management This role requires a thorough understanding of San Diego County regulations for water quality and safety. The technician will perform routine testing, maintenance, and documentation to ensure all water systems meet or exceed local and state standards. This position is employed through Innovative Aquatic Management, a leader in aquatic facility management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certification in pool operations (e.g., CPO - Certified Pool Operator, AFO-Aquatic Facility Operator )
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in water quality testing and maintenance, preferably in a water park or public pool setting.
  • Familiarity with Cal OSHA/DOSH and San Diego County regulations for water parks and pools.
  • Proficient in water testing techniques and equipment.
  • Strong understanding of chemical handling and safety protocols.
  • Ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Water Quality Testing and Monitoring: Conduct daily water quality tests (e.g., pH, chlorine, alkalinity, temperature) for pools, spas, and water features.
  • Use testing equipment and interpret results to ensure compliance with San Diego County and Cal OSHA/DOSH regulations.
  • Adjust chemical levels as needed to maintain safe and balanced water conditions.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all water systems comply with San Diego County Environmental Health regulations and Cal OSHA/DOSH standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of water quality tests, chemical usage, and maintenance activities.
  • Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory agencies as needed.
  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Perform routine maintenance on pool equipment, including pumps, filters, and chemical feeders.
  • Identify and resolve issues related to water quality or equipment malfunctions.
  • Coordinate with maintenance staff or contractors for repairs as necessary.
  • Safety and Training: Ensure all safety protocols are followed, including proper handling and storage of chemicals.
  • Train staff on water quality testing procedures and safety measures.
  • Stay updated on changes to local and state regulations and implement necessary adjustments.
  • Customer and Staff Communication: Communicate water quality issues or closures to management and staff promptly.
  • Address guest concerns related to water quality in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to water quality emergencies (e.g., chemical spills, contamination) in accordance with established protocols.
  • Assist in evacuations or closures if water quality poses a safety risk.
