About The Position

The Water Maintenance Technician IV (Operator II) supports the Rockies Water Operations – Water On Demand team, based out of the Casper, WY office. This role is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of fresh water systems supporting oil & gas completions. The position requires strong field leadership, hands-on mechanical aptitude, and the ability to independently coordinate logistics, contractors, and maintenance activities across multiple water assets. This is a field-based role requiring a self-motivated, detail-oriented professional capable of leading water delivery operations through permanent underground infrastructure, surface transfer equipment, and associated facilities while maintaining strict safety, environmental, and operational standards.

Requirements

  • 2+ yrs. of Oil and Gas Water Transfer Operations experience required.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience maintaining and operating water equipment, including: Pumps (various types), motors, rotating equipment, piping, valves, filters, meters, heaters and automation and control systems
  • Working knowledge of: SAP, Microsoft Office Suite, SCADA systems (Cygnet preferred).
  • Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions around active oil & gas operations
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Must meet conditional job offer requirements including background, drug test (Hair Follicle), MVR Check, agility, and Fit for Duty.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain fresh water systems and facilities supporting completions activities
  • Lead daily coordination of contractors to ensure safe, compliant operations
  • Coordinate and oversee contract work, repairs, and third-party services
  • Act independently in troubleshooting, diagnosis, ordering parts, and executing repairs
  • Maintain and develop strong relationships with vendors, landowners, and internal stakeholders
  • Support intermittent cross-basin operations within the PRB and DJ Basins
  • Coordinate logistics and costs associated with fluid transportation (company-owned and third-party)
  • Evaluate costs, place orders, and schedule repairs with internal and external support
  • Create, organize, and manage SAP purchase orders
  • Maintain accurate equipment records and support preventative and predictive maintenance programs
  • Participate in budget planning and operational forecasting activities
  • Lead point or on-call operations as assigned
  • Accountable for personal safety and the safety of others
  • Enforce company, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations
  • Promote a strong safety culture across all water operations activities
  • Perform minor repairs and troubleshooting on pumps, motors, valves, piping, meters, heaters, automation equipment, and water transfer lines
  • Facilitate both scheduled and unplanned maintenance activities
  • Respond to call-outs and emergency maintenance situations as needed
  • Assist with identification, testing, and implementation of new equipment
