About The Position

AECOM is seeking a talented Project Engineer to support our Water, Wastewater, and Water Resources practice based in Rocky Hill, Connecticut. The selected mid-level engineer will have a primary focus on water/wastewater/water resources for municipal and regional clients. The candidate will perform a variety of tasks, including site investigations, field measurements, utility investigations, capacity studies, condition assessments, complete designs from concept through final, cost estimating, and engineering services during construction. The successful candidate will have ample opportunities to develop professionally through frequent collaboration with senior engineers, project manager, clients, regulatory agencies, and industry-leading subject matter experts, as well as attendance at professional conferences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering or related discipline + 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Minimum of 2+ years’ experience with water, wastewater, or stormwater utility projects.
  • Professional Engineer, or ability to obtain PE licensure within one year of employment.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License and as a condition of employment, must pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records Review.

Nice To Haves

  • Progressive experience with water/wastewater utility planning, modeling, condition assessment, and design.
  • Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as AutoCAD, GIS, Hydrologic/Hydraulic models).
  • Demonstrated time management skills, work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with technicians, designers, engineers, and project managers for the preparation of high-quality work products.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical support for a variety of utility design related projects, including treatment plants, pump/booster stations, water transmission system design, sewage system collection rehabilitation, master planning, and construction administration.
  • Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings.
  • Work under supervision of a project manager in the water/wastewater/water resources practice or senior level team members.
  • Collaborate on complex engineering assignments involving calculations and engineering analyses.
  • Increasing responsibility including project management or becoming a regional technical expert expected.
  • Emerging technologies such as PFAS removal and biological treatment systems.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables to coordinate designs ranging from geotechnical and structural, to mechanical, electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Providing construction support for review of shop drawings, request for information and site visits to the construction sites.
