About The Position

The Wastewater Treatment Specialist supports the safe and compliant treatment, management, and disposition of wastewater and liquid waste streams in regulated industrial and environmental services operations. This role combines technical expertise, regulatory knowledge, and coordination with waste generators to ensure wastewater is properly characterized, treated, and managed in accordance with applicable environmental and transportation requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in waste management or environmental compliance within a regulated environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in wastewater treatment and liquid waste management operations.
  • Hands-on experience with wastewater acceptance, liquid waste characterization and storage, and treatment verification.
  • Working knowledge of regulations applicable to liquid waste disposition, including RCRA, TSCA, DOE Order 435.1, and DOT requirements.
  • Proven ability to work directly with waste generators, customers, and operational teams to evaluate waste streams.

  • Experience in environmental services, waste treatment, or regulated industrial facilities.
  • Familiarity with treatment, storage, and disposal (TSD) operations.
  • Experience with both liquid radioactive and hazardous waste characterization and storage responsibilities
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee wastewater treatment and liquid waste management activities to ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and operational standards.
  • Review and evaluate wastewater streams for acceptance, including characterization, storage requirements, and treatment pathways.
  • Confirm that wastewater treatment processes meet regulatory and permit requirements prior to discharge or off-site disposition.
  • Support the management of liquid hazardous and radioactive waste, ensuring proper handling, storage, and final disposition.
  • Coordinate with customer and site generator organizations to assess waste profiles and determine acceptance or rejection of liquid waste streams.
  • Ensure waste management activities align with federal regulatory frameworks governing hazardous and radioactive materials.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation and records supporting wastewater treatment, compliance, and waste disposition activities.
  • Provide technical input to operations, environmental compliance, and project teams to support safe and efficient treatment processes.
  • Assist with audits, inspections, and continuous improvement efforts related to wastewater treatment and environmental performance.
