About The Position

We are currently seeking immediate applicants for a self-motivated and team-oriented Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to join our Engineering department. This position operates and regulates wastewater treatment plant equipment to assure continued operation of the City Brewery's wastewater treatment plant and associated facilities.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent. Vocational/technical training in wastewater treatment plant operation/equipment preferred. Will consider combination of education and experience which provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude including strong troubleshooting skills.
Ability to complete confined spaces training and pass respirator clearance exam.
Demonstrated motivation and ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to operate equipment and machinery requiring complex and rapid adjustments, such as valves, equipment controls, hoist, pumps, blowers, sampling equipment, common hand tools, gas meter, and protective equipment.
Ability to work in an environment with exposure to strong chemicals, odors, gases, and irritants with proper training and provided PPE.

Responsibilities

Observes equipment operation for proper functioning and to record readings, including devices for atmospheric gases.
Monitors entire treatment process including removal of foreign material, operating de-gritting equipment, and operating mechanical sludge handling equipment.
Operates effluent odor control equipment and automatic samplers.
Collects samples for analysis and take appropriate action based on results.
Performs minor/routine equipment repairs and assists maintenance staff as needed.
