This specific position is for a Wastewater Treatment Operator at the Concord, MA Wastewater Treatment Facility, which is notable for being the first plant globally to utilize CoMag treatment technology. The role involves daily process monitoring and a comprehensive maintenance system to achieve 100% compliance. It is a full-time position responsible for the operation and general maintenance of equipment at a 1 MGD advanced wastewater treatment facility. The primary focus includes laboratory analysis, record keeping, and process control, with a secondary focus on assisting with maintenance projects and general facility and grounds maintenance.

Requirements

  • Massachusetts Grade IV or higher license, or the ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a wastewater treatment facility, operation, and maintenance; or any equivalent combination of education.
  • Must live within a one hour radius of Concord, MA in order to respond to emergency call-outs.
  • High School or trade school diploma.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, other personnel, and the general public.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Familiarity with biological/chemical treatment processes with particular aptitude for laboratory analysis, record keeping, and facility maintenance.
  • Ability to lift or move up to 40 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Successful completion of a background check, pre-placement physical and drug screen before employment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and perform general maintenance of equipment at a 1 MGD advanced wastewater treatment facility.
  • Conduct laboratory analysis, record keeping, and process control.
  • Assist with maintenance projects and general facility and grounds maintenance.
  • Participate in an "on call" rotation for plant coverage outside normal workday hours, including weekends.
  • Respond to emergency situations and work in inclement weather as needed.
