Wastewater Operator This role is responsible for the operation and maintenance of equipment at small to medium-sized water/wastewater facilities.

Requirements

  • Education/Experience: High School Diploma or GED and 2 years of water/wastewater experience.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Valid Driver’s License (CDL preferred). Water/Wastewater Operator’s License specific to state and site-specific requirements. Other licenses may vary by site and assignment.
  • Technical: Ability to follow manual and operating instructions. Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and internet applications. Basic knowledge of wastewater operations and working knowledge of electrical components.
  • Communication: Communicates clearly and professionally. Contributes to a positive internal and external customer experience. Maintains composure in challenging situations. Collaborates with others and seeks feedback.
  • Problem Solving & Quality: Pays attention to detail. Identifies and solves problems, escalates issues as needed, checks work for quality, and contributes suggestions to improve productivity and quality.
  • Managing for Results: Works independently with minimal supervision. Completes projects, follows company policies and SOPs, handles multiple tasks, and adapts to changes in workflow and scheduling.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a variety of equipment and machinery, including valves, pumps, motors, belt presses, disinfection equipment, and vehicles.
  • Conduct routine testing, monitoring, and maintenance of production wells and water/wastewater facilities.
  • Perform and document treatment processes and maintenance activities to ensure proper operations. Record daily flow, chemical usage, and related data.
  • Respond to call outs and after-hours emergencies to repair treatment equipment, pumps, motors, sensing devices, instrumentation, and electrical systems.
  • Provide customer service functions as needed.
  • Ensure the security and cleanliness of treatment plant facilities and grounds.
  • Communicate with clients and customers regarding routine technical aspects of operations as needed.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities within the treatment facility.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Willing to work all shifts, including weekends, holidays, evenings, and 24-hour emergency on-call.
