Amentum is seeking several Industrial Wastewater Treatment Operator IV in Pontiac, IL! Typical work schedule is AWS 12hr shifts 6am – 6pm or 6pm to 6am; hours may vary based on business demand. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, operation, adjustment, and cleaning of process treatment equipment, lab testing of waste streams, general maintenance, safe handling and transfer of chemicals and waste streams, and general housekeeping. Qualified candidates who are offered a position must be able to schedule testing for the Illinois Class K Operators License within 12 months of hire.

  • Operates and maintains industrial wastewater Treatment Plant.
  • Follows procedures regarding cleaning, equipment uses, maintenance, calibration, and safe handling of chemicals.
  • Collects samples and conducts the in-plant tests necessary to control and monitor treatment facility processes and operation.
  • Performs in-plant operational control tests and process calculations, using various analytical instruments and mathematical calculations.
  • Records in-plant test results, various meter readings, gauge reading, flow quantities and other technical data.
  • Performs in-plant maintenance according to the schedules and procedures established for the facilities to which assigned. This includes cleaning, servicing, lubricating, and repairing pumps, chemical feed equipment, electrical/ mechanical devices regularly found in water, wastewater, and industrial wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Understands company policies and enforces safety regulations.
  • Safely performs functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis and lockout/tagout procedures and wearing PPE as required.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail, good comprehensive and analytical skills, and excellent organizational skills.
  • Maintains a strict schedule to be successful in the assignment yet demonstrates flexibility in the day-to-day activities and scheduling for the benefit of the customer.
  • Operates air, steam, and water systems and associated equipment including chillers, water towers, air compressors, boilers, and heat exchangers.
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.
  • High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
  • 7-10 years of Industrial Wastewater experience.
  • 7-10 years maintenance experience of Industrial Wastewater.
  • Previous Class K operator certificate.
  • Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.
  • Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.
  • Must participate in required safety and administrative training.
  • Must obtain Class K Operators Lic. Within 18 months of hire.
  • Must be able to receive client access badge.
  • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
  • This position may require a valid Driver’s License.
  • This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.
  • This position will require the ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location.
  • This position may require various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.
  • Must be willing to work overtime when required.
  • May be required to work holidays and weekends.
  • Knowledge of and certification in water/wastewater systems.
  • Experience with computer control systems.
  • Knowledge of water/wastewater systems maintenance.
  • Ability to work proficiently on a PC performing e-mail functions, documentation, and reporting using MS Office programs.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment, including applying proper safety practices and following procedures while performing maintenance tasks.
  • Experience with Clarification and Dissolved Air Floatation.
  • Knowledge of sanitary treatment processes, including Lagoons and Activated Sludge.
  • Experience with a SCADAware Process Control Program.
