About The Position

Handex is on the move in 2026! Are you seeking a day shift position? Due to increased business, Handex is currently seeking a N2 Licensed Wastewater Treatment Operator to join our project team in 2026. This position will be servicing our client's superfund site located in Jackson,NJ. Handex Consulting & Remediation, LLC is a full-service environmental company focused on providing professional environmental consulting, remediation, construction and sludge dewatering services in the United States. Founded in 1968, we have over 56+ years of experience and have no intentions of slowing down!

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience in water treatment, wastewater field operations or environment labs.
  • High School diploma and an N2 Wastewater Operator License required. College degree and OSHA 40-Hour a plus.
  • Excellent knowledge of water sampling, lab procedures, and regulatory standards.
  • Highly familiar with Chain of Custody protocols and documentation.
  • Mechanically inclined with troubleshooting and maintenance skills.
  • Detail-oriented, strong recordkeeping and data entry abilities and proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word) and digital reporting tools.
  • Team player, customer focused with excellent communication and interpersonal skills a must representing Handex.
  • Maintain licensing credentials.
  • Willing to work in confined spaces and travel to NJ client sites as needed.
  • Must complete and pass pre-employment physical including criminal/drug/alcohol/MVR.
  • Available to start early spring of 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Collect routine and non-routine water and wastewater samples in both field and laboratory settings.
  • Complete and maintain accurate Chain of Custody (COC) documentation for all samples.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain field and lab instruments to ensure accurate data collection.
  • Oversee daily wastewater treatment operations, including monitoring system performance and making process adjustments as needed.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues involving pumps, meters, and sampling systems.
  • Conduct regular inspections of treatment systems, distribution lines, and associated facilities.
  • Safely handle, store, and transport samples in compliance with regulatory and company procedures.
  • Perform minor mechanical repairs and routine preventive maintenance on treatment equipment.
  • Support compliance efforts with state and federal environmental regulations (e.g., NJDEP, EPA).
  • Maintain detailed operational logs, maintenance records, and regulatory reports.
  • Collaborate with field staff, lab personnel, and project managers to resolve technical and operational challenges.
  • Follow all applicable safety procedures, including proper use of PPE and hazard reporting protocols.
  • Keep abreast of latest industry trends and technology.
