The City of Idaho Falls is accepting applications for a Wastewater Collection System Foreman. This position performs a variety of first-line supervisory and journeyman-level skilled duties related to overseeing and coordinating the day-to-day operation, installation, maintenance, and repair of storm water and sanitary sewer collection systems. Acts as Responsible Charge Operator; assumes Collection system responsibility in absence of Wastewater Superintendent; serves as field supervisor, plans daily work projects and assigns work crews; allocates resources, including personnel, equipment and materials essential to the completion of priority projects; supervises the installation, maintenance, and repair of sewer lines, manholes, catch basins, storm sewers, and french drains. Provides for routine inspection and cleaning of collection and drainage system; develops and recommends preventative maintenance programs; reviews work in progress and when completed, evaluates workmanship and quality; ensures all projects meet established standards and regulations, i.e., DEQ and EPA; may review construction drawings for projects within Idaho Falls and other systems maintained by Idaho Falls. Reviews inspections of collection system; directs the operation of underground camera to identify potential problem areas or to locate exact location of breaks or leaks in pipelines; directs the examination of new lines to determine quality of completed extensions and connections. Answers calls on excavation permits to verify location of city collection lines; responds to complaints or concerns related to sanitary or storm collection; coordinates remedies to identified problems and schedules repair or maintenance as required. Operates, maintains and troubleshoots system lift stations; ensures proper operation of apparatus; participates on projects installing or rehabilitating storm and sanitary sewer lines. Ensures the accuracy of various system documents, including GIS mapping, project files, etc.; prepares documents or drawings that accurately record and identify city collection system; coordinates updates to GIS mapping to reflect growth and system changes. Attends pre-construction meetings; discusses construction projects with contractors; attends various public meetings as required; performs inspections of contracted projects as required. Conducts periodical inventories of equipment and supplies; determines Division needs and requisitions accordingly; assists in budget preparation through recommendations for equipment, supply purchases and personnel needs. Assists in the plowing and removal of snow from public rights-of-way as may be required. Performs related duties as required.
