This entry-level internship is designed for students interested in engineering, utilities, or industrial systems who want hands-on exposure to environmental compliance, maintenance collaboration, and continuous improvement in a real manufacturing setting. This role is built for learning—you’ll be guided, supported, and mentored while gaining real-world experience in systems most people never see but every facility relies on.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing (or recently completed) coursework in Engineering, Environmental Science, Industrial Technology, Utilities, or a related field
- Interest in systems, infrastructure, and environmental operations
- Willingness to learn, ask questions, and work safely
- Attention to detail and a responsible, team-oriented mindset
- Comfortable working in indoor and outdoor industrial environments
Responsibilities
- Assist with operating, inspecting, and monitoring wastewater treatment equipment under supervision
- Support collection of wastewater data, samples, and basic laboratory testing
- Learn how facility controls are adjusted to maintain required operating standards
- Observe and assist with odor control system operations
- Support special projects to identify improvement needs and ideas to return systems to base condition
- Work with the Maintenance Manager to help identify site improvement opportunities and understand how funding requests are developed
- Partner with the Engineering Team Review control system monitoring needs
- Identify potential system improvements
- Learn how capital improvement requests are evaluated and submitted
- Learn how environmental permits, SOPs, and emergency plans are followed
- Assist with ensuring monitoring requirements align with regulatory standards
- Gain exposure to state and federal environmental compliance requirements
