About The Position

Environmental Waste Operator are responsible for performing tasks associated with handling waste while making safety and compliance their top priority. These team members work successfully with fellow employees & others to collect waste and deliver it to appropriate and client approved waste facilities and receptacles. This position requires completion of duties year-round in all weather conditions where it is safe to conduct business.

  • Requires ability to operate pallet jacks
  • Valid Drivers License (if required by site)
  • Forklift Driving Experience (if required by site)
  • Must be able to understand one’s own physical limitations to the extent necessary to perform the necessary functions and tasks of the job
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move or push up to 75 pounds
  • The ability to stand 33%, Walk >66%, Sit <10%
  • Use of hands and fingers to touch, handle, rub, grip, and feel <66%
  • Reach above shoulders <33%, Push/pull and grasp with hands and arms 33-50%
  • Stoop, Kneel, Crouch, or Crawl <33%
  • Talk and hear 100%
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust and focus 100%
  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals

  • Occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions and outside weather conditions
  • The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud
  • Must be able to work under pressure and time deadlines during peak period
  • Must be comfortable working with environmental waste
  • Must be comfortable working with Trash Compactor

This includes following safety protocols, maintaining environmental responsibility, and upholding quality standards in all tasks. Employees are expected to actively participate in HSEQ training and report any potential hazards or compliance concerns.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare waste collection areas, ensuring that manufacturing areas have all necessary waste-collection supplies
  • All waste material to be delivered to appropriate and client-approved waste facilities
  • Maintain waste collection schedule and meet agreed performance metrics
  • Maintain waste collection documentation manually and digitally as required
  • Manage safety of self and others by monitoring and replacing signage in waste areas and on waste containers
  • Assist other departments as needed
