Waste Water Treatment Operators: Follow all department and plant safety and health rules. Be aware of and contribute to Safety Training Observation Program. [ S.T.O.P.] Wear all safety equipment required such as respirators, safety glasses, metatarsal boots, gloves, face shields and hearing protection. Forklift driver certified to operate mobile equipment in a safe manner and use operator’s SOP and sign off sheet. Are knowledgeable of water treatment procedures. Know and observe proper Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for operation of the water treatment department. Know and understand all startup/shutdown/operation and malfunction SOP for oxidation, mixing, pumping, filtering, clarifying, backwashing, truck washing, pH control, and iron addition systems. Are able to carry out duties unsupervised for periods of time. Be able to use knowledge of system to solve problems and maintain operations. Any spills must be picked up ASAP in a safe manner and all working surfaces, floors and equipment must be kept clean. Are well-versed in EXCELL. Know all about Standard Work, 5s, QCPC, Takt Time, TPM, and what a Kiazen event is. Be familiar with the company-wide Lean process [copper, bronze, silver, gold, and platinum] and requirements to achieve plant certification. Be prepared to help other departments as needed. Possess good working knowledge of acids and bases and the hazards associated with them. Use this knowledge to work safely.
