Responsible for providing daily assignments and instructions to crews providing Waste Management services across campus. Assists in developing and recommending new and improved programs, procedures, and methods to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and management of the Waste Management sub-unit. Makes assignments, inspects work, and tours the campus to ensure waste management duties are being performed up to departmental standards. Prepares work schedules and ensures appropriate staff allocation to ensure completion of work orders in a timely fashion. Ensures trash containers are placed where needed on campus and cleaned. Evaluates/recommends functional repair and visual refurbishment. Serves as the primary point of contact for customers requesting services. Initiates and effectively makes recommendations for recruiting, hiring, performance evaluations, termination, disciplinary, and commendatory actions for assigned personnel. Prepares and assigns work schedules, reviews and approves requests for leave, and reviews time and leave records for accuracy. Develops training plans for direct reports in use and care of equipment and promotes safety awareness. Responsible for security, safety, and maintenance of all equipment and supplies for the job site and reporting malfunctions or discrepancies. Prepares requests for materials and supplies and initiates purchase requisitions. Operates non-CDL vehicles used by the Waste Management sub-unit. Will support areas within Waste Management and other assigned special projects as needed. Ensures staff are cleaning vehicles/equipment on a proper schedule.
