About The Position

The Waste Management Collector is responsible for semi-skilled manual labor involving the collection of trash and refuse.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and six (6) months prior work experience
  • Valid South Carolina Drivers License
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of operation and maintenance of Division equipment and effective practices and techniques
  • Knowledge of department safety practices and techniques
  • Knowledge of various department tools and equipment
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in written form
  • Ability to follow directions and complete tasks in a detailed and accurate manner
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Ability to work under adverse weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled manual labor
  • Collects garbage and trash throughout the town in a safe and efficient manner
  • Represents the Town and interacts with the public on a daily basis
  • Performs other duties as assigned that relate to Construction and Demolition (C&D) or Municipal Solid Waste (MSW)
  • Provides assistance to other Divisions within the Department and other Town departments as directed
  • Performs other duties as required
