About The Position

Receives, stores, and distributes material, tools, equipment, and products within establishments by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reads customer order, work order, shipping order, core order, component to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed while continuously striving for improvement in all materials processes. Conveys materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas. Responsible for maintaining a quality work environment including good housekeeping (i.e. 5S). Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to bin location or predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code. Fills requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distributes to production or assembly line. Assembles customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets or shelves, or conveys orders to picking station or shipping department. Marks materials with identifying information. Opens bales, crates, and other container dunnage. Record keeping. Ensures conformance to company standards. Arranges stock parts in specified sequence for production. Uses computer to enter records and process orders. Compiles worksheets or tickets from customer specifications. Drives vehicle, forklift, order picker and turret to transport stored items from warehouse to plant or to pick up items from several locations for shipment. Completes requisition forms to order supplies from other plant departments. Prepares parcels for mailing. Maintains inventory records. Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product. Ensures parts are stored in the proper area of the warehouse and MMOG and ISO 14001 procedures are followed. Clean and perform operator maintenance on assigned equipment. Regular and reliable attendance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
  • Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Valid Michigan Drivers License
  • Valid Forklift license
