The team is focused on building interactions between AppDirect and Firstbase while maintaining and growing Firstbase's existing user base and product offerings. About You We are seeking a skilled Warehouse Technician to join our growing organization. We are looking for a detail-oriented professional with proven success in IT Asset Disposition (ITAD), reverse logistics, and electronics remarketing. In this role, you will perform essential warehouse operations with a specific focus on processing retired IT assets. You will be responsible for receiving used equipment, performing cosmetic grading, executing data sanitization, and preparing electronics for resale or redeployment using our proprietary Warehouse Management System (WMS). You are meticulous and organized, with a sharp eye for detail and a natural ability to sort, catalog, and grade items accurately. You have strong technical instincts for hardware, a knack for troubleshooting, and you adapt quickly to new systems and tools. You thrive in a fast-paced warehouse setting, value teamwork, and are reliable when it comes to following processes and documenting information. You are motivated by hands-on problem solving and are comfortable lifting and moving equipment, always ensuring every piece is securely tracked and prepared with care.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2+ years experience working in computer repair; very familiar with specific experience in ITAD, electronics recycling, or reverse logistics.
  • Hardware Knowledge: Strong ability to identify different types of IT hardware (identifying laptop models, differentiating between SSD types, etc.).
  • Grading Ability: Experience visually grading used electronics for resale (understanding the difference between "Like New" and "Scratch & Dent").
  • Tech Savvy: Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Windows and Apple products, and comfort using diagnostic tools or data erasure software.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy when logging serial numbers and assessing device condition.
  • Physical: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including, lifting, bending, and moving equipment.
  • Must be able to handle and move IT devices carefully to avoid damage.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure or 2+ years of experience in a warehouse environment
  • Prior experience with data erasure software (e.g., Blancco, BitRaser).
  • Ability to troubleshoot minor hardware issues (reseating RAM, swapping hard drives).
  • Forklift certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • ITAD Receiving & Identification: Accurately receive and log mixed lots of retired IT assets (laptops, monitors, peripherals) upon arrival using proprietary WMS software.
  • Identify and verify specific hardware configurations (Processor type, RAM capacity, Hard Drive type) to ensure assets are cataloged correctly.
  • Sort incoming material into appropriate workflows: Resale, wholesale, Harvest, or Recycle.
  • Apply asset tags and scan serial numbers to maintain strict chain-of-custody for all customer devices.
  • Cosmetic Grading & Testing: Perform visual inspections of used devices to determine cosmetic grade (Grade A, B, C, D) based on industry standards (checking for scratches, dents, LCD pressure marks).
  • Conduct functional testing on laptops and peripherals to verify key features (keyboard, trackpad, ports, webcam) are working prior to stocking.
  • Log detailed condition notes to assist the remarketing in accurate pricing and sales.
  • Data Sanitization & Refurbishment: Connect devices to wiping servers and monitor the data sanitization process to ensure all drives are wiped according to NIST standards.
  • Perform repair and physical refurbishment tasks, including removing asset tags/stickers, detailed cleaning, and, and Battery replacements.
  • Inventory & Parts Harvesting: Track inventory levels of both whole units and harvested components (RAM, SSDs, Power Adapters) in the WMS.
  • Harvest functional parts from non-working units to be used for repairs.
  • Perform cycle counts and inventory audits to minimize discrepancies between physical stock and system data.
  • Order Fulfillment & Shipping: Pick, pack, and ship orders for both individual direct-to-consumer shipments and bulk palletized freight for wholesale buyers.
  • Ensure used electronics are packed securely with appropriate dunnage (bubble wrap, anti-static bags) to prevent damage during transit.
  • Generate shipping labels and manifests, ensuring accurate tracking information is uploaded to the WMS.
