Requires full range of body motion to include: constant lifting, bending, twisting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, stooping, squatting, climbing, and reaching outward and overhead. Such activities are often performed in tight, awkward positions to place and remove crane slings over and around bales of tubing while hooking sling “eyes” onto crane hook. Requires climbing on stacks of tubing to heights of nine feet in order to locate bales of tubing to secure crane slings in order to move bales of tubing with overhead crane. The ability to maintain one's balance while performing the required work tasks is essential. Requires frequent unassisted lifting of a variety of objects from various positions, which range in weight from 5 to 50 pounds with an average weight of 34-37 pounds. This lifting requirement includes lifting bunks to stack tubing at floor level and up to six feet high. Requires operating banding equipment to bundle tubes. This task consists of wrapping and securing metal banding around the bundle of tubes, taking a tensioner to tighten the metal bands around the tubes, and using a crimper to secure the banding around the tubes with a clip. Requires placing multiple metal bands on each bundle of tubing as determined by weight and size of tubing that is being shipped. Performing the above functions requires bending at the waist and reaching across to wrap the banding around the tubing. Position requires frequent walking and/or standing on concrete floor during a 10-hour shift while wearing steel-toed shoes. May walk one mile while performing duties during shift. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Utilizes a variety of hand positions to work equipment controls and maneuver tubes throughout manufacturing process. Most jobs are fast paced and the ability to deal with stress is essential.
