About The Position

This position is at our Gainesville location, known as Bread of the Mighty Food Bank. Feeding Northeast Florida is dedicated to building community awareness and creating an efficient food distribution network to eliminate hunger. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to read and write in English at a level that is generally accepted as literate
  • Possess basic math skills, including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment such as dollies and pallet jacks
  • High level of personal integrity and honesty

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a warehouse environment, preferably in the food industry, is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Work with and may oversee volunteers to complete order processing and sorting, requiring the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in explaining procedures or following up with volunteers
  • Demonstrate professionalism and speak respectfully when interacting with staff, volunteers and the public
  • Follow established guidelines to accurately and thoroughly fulfill inventory order requests and sorting procedures
  • Accurately, efficiently and safely store items on racks, shelves, bins, refrigerated rooms/freezers according to product type, size, expiration date or product code
  • Assists Volunteer Engagement Manager in leading off-site events, such as mobile pantries
  • Conscientious and safe handling of all warehouse material handling equipment including, but not limited to, pallet jacks, hand dollies, and forklift to prevent injury to self and others as well as mitigating damage to product, equipment or facility.
  • Will be responsible for conducting monthly inventory counts, as assigned, by physical count, recording product quantity and type.
  • Maintain clean, orderly and safe work areas always, including but not limited to, warehouse, grounds, bins and equipment.
  • Responsible for cleaning spills immediately, keeping walk areas and exits clear; lock and secure equipment and facility as required.
  • Responsible for notifying manager of problems or repairs as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
