About The Position

The Warehouse Parts Planner is a critical role responsible for ensuring optimal parts availability to support repair and refurbishment of capital equipment in the San Diego Facility while minimizing excess inventory and costs. This position involves strategic planning, demand forecasting, inventory control, and coordinating with various departments and external suppliers to maintain a smooth and efficient supply chain. The role is also responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of shipping and receiving operations, ensuring timely, accurate, and efficient movement of products, materials, and supplies while maintaining high standards for inventory accuracy and organization.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; an Associate's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is a plus but not required.
  • A minimum of 2-4 years of experience in inventory control, warehousing, parts management, or a similar supply chain role is essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly strong Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas).
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) (e.g., SAP).
  • Familiarity with barcode scanners and inventory tracking devices.
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team environment.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks that require prolonged standing, bending, and walking.

Responsibilities

  • Inventory Management: Monitor current inventory levels, conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventories, and update electronic inventory records to ensure accuracy.
  • Demand Forecasting & Planning: Analyze historical consumption data, current demand, and production schedules to forecast future parts needs and develop successful inventory plans.
  • Order Fulfillment: Accurately pick, pack, and prepare parts for internal use or customer shipment, ensuring timely delivery to meet expectations.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement process enhancements and cost-saving opportunities, applying lean methodologies where applicable to optimize warehouse operations.
  • Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all company policies and OSHA safety regulations, maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Shipment Management: Schedule and coordinate pickups and deliveries, determine optimal shipping methods, routes, and rates.
  • Receiving & Verification: Unload trucks, inspect incoming shipments for damage or discrepancies, and compare contents with packing lists/purchase orders.
  • Documentation: Prepare, process, and maintain accurate shipping documents (bills of lading, packing slips, invoices) and logs.
  • Inventory Control: Perform cycle counts, update inventory records, and manage stock levels to ensure accuracy and availability.
  • Logistics Coordination: Liaise with carriers, freight forwarders, and internal departments (operations, sales, marketing) to resolve issues and provide shipment updates.
  • Warehouse Organization: Keep the shipping/receiving area clean, organized, and safe, utilizing equipment like pallet jacks as needed.
  • Reporting: Record shipment data, charges, and discrepancies for accounting and recordkeeping.
