About The Position

Founded in 1958, Community Blood Center (CBC) has served Kansas and Missouri for more than 65 years, delivering over 150,000 lifesaving blood products annually to 70+ hospitals, EMS, and healthcare partners. CBC is part of New York Blood Center Enterprises (NYBCe), which spans 17+ states and delivers one million blood products to 400+ U.S. hospitals annually. NYBCe also provides cellular therapies, specialty pharmacy, and medical services to over 200 research, academic, and biopharmaceutical organizations. NYBCe’s Lindsley F. Kimball Research Institute is a leader in hematology and transfusion medicine research. The Warehouse / Mobile Packing Assistant, under the supervision of the Warehouse and Transportation Manager, is responsible for ensuring that all mobile units have the required materials, supplies, and equipment. This role serves as a resource for Mobile Unit Operators for daily packing and acquisition of materials for successful operations and promotes a positive image of CBC to the community.

Requirements

  • Must be able to confidently communicate and interpret intermediate information in English to all members of the public and CBC staff.
  • Must have and maintain a valid MO Class E Driver's License or KS Class C Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Good written and verbal communication skills to successfully communicate with donors, staff, chairpersons, community and co-workers.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to meet projected goals.

  • Knowledge of MO and KS driving laws.

Nice To Haves

  • Warehouse and/or manufacturing experience preferred.
  • At least 6 months experience in blood collections, supervision and FDA, AABB and OSHA regulations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assumes responsibility for ensuring that all mobiles have the required materials, supplies and equipment under the supervisor of the Warehouse and Transportation Manager.
  • Serves as a resource for Mobile Unit Operators for daily packing and acquisition of materials for successful operations.
  • Promotes positive image of CBC to the community.
  • Competently performs all tasks required by Mobile Unit Operators.
  • Maintains equipment required for mobiles to include tracking, packing and unpacking, maintenance, storage and applicable Quality Control (QC).
  • Ensures all needed supplies are packed and ready for use.
  • Assists with loading, unloading and set-up of mobile equipment and supplies.
  • Ensures an adequate number and type of vehicles are assigned.
  • Performs monthly QC of equipment in conjunction with Mobile Packing Supervisor.
  • Obtains various reports from the computer.
  • Complies with all applicable safety policies and procedures.
  • Complies with Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) regarding calibration of equipment.
  • Orders, receives, inspects and records critical supplies.
  • Maintains confidentiality of personal information regarding donors and staff.
  • Maintains prompt and regular attendance.
