About The Position

The Mechanic & Warehouse Assistant provides hands-on support to skilled mechanics by performing routine maintenance, basic repairs, and essential shop duties, such as changing oil, replacing parts, cleaning the workspace, and organizing tools. Occasional travel is needed, typically around 10% of overnight travel in a year.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience working in a warehouse or logistics environment.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with inventory management software or databases.
  • Physical ability to lift and move heavy objects, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift operator certification.
  • Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and barcode scanning technology.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and warehouse best practices.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced distribution or fulfillment center.
  • Ability to operate warehouse equipment safely, including forklifts (certification preferred).
  • Class A CDL (preferred, not required).

Responsibilities

  • Keeps equipment available for use by inspecting and testing vehicles; completing preventive maintenance and repairs such as, oil changes, filter replacement, greasing pivot points, rebuilding pumps, welding and fabrication of broken structures, replacing broken or worn parts.
  • Maintains vehicle functional condition by listening to operator complaints; conducting inspections; repairing mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems malfunctions; replacing parts and components; repairing body damage.
  • Verifies vehicle serviceability by conducting tests; adjusting controls and systems.
  • Complies with state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
  • Maintains vehicle records by recording service and repairs.
  • Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
  • Maintains a safe and efficient workspace by cleaning and organizing.
  • Contains costs by evaluating service and parts options.
  • Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
  • Accomplishes maintenance and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
