Maintenance Technician III - Staples Distribution Center- Terre Haute Indiana Staples Connect is focused on our customers and our communities. As a Maintenance Technician III, you will serve as a senior technical resource within the Distribution Center, supporting advanced diagnostics, system reliability, and maintenance excellence across automated equipment, material handling systems, and facility operations. This role plays a critical part in ensuring equipment uptime, safety, and operational efficiency while mentoring and supporting other maintenance technicians. What You’ll Do In addition to performing all responsibilities of a Maintenance Technician II, the Maintenance Technician III will: Advanced Equipment & System Support Lead advanced troubleshooting, repair, and diagnostics for conveyor systems, automation equipment, electrical systems, and material handling equipment (MHE). Serve as the technical escalation point for complex mechanical, electrical, and controls‑related issues. Troubleshoot and support PLC-controlled systems, VFDs, servo drives, sensors, encoders, and associated controls (Allen‑Bradley preferred). Identify root causes of recurring equipment failures and implement long‑term corrective solutions. Preventive Maintenance & Reliability Ensure 100% completion of Preventive Maintenance (PM) programs, while recommending improvements to PM strategies to reduce downtime and extend asset life. Take ownership of assigned critical systems or equipment, acting as a subject matter expert. Partner with leadership to support continuous improvement and system reliability initiatives. Leadership & Collaboration Mentor and support Maintenance Technicians I and II through hands‑on guidance, troubleshooting support, and knowledge sharing. Assist with onboarding and training of new maintenance team members. Maintain strong working relationships across Operations, Engineering, Safety, and Leadership. Project & Vendor Support Support or lead capital projects, equipment installations, and system upgrades. Coordinate with vendors and contractors, ensuring work is completed safely, correctly, and to Staples standards. Validate work quality and confirm operational readiness following installations and repairs. Documentation & Communication Complete work orders with clear technical detail, including corrective actions and root‑cause observations. Communicate effectively on downtime events, equipment risks, and maintenance priorities. Lead by example with safety, documentation accuracy, and professionalism.
