About The Position

The Warehouse Lead is responsible for planning, organizing and monitoring the receiving, storage and distribution of all items received either from suppliers or production, ensuring a smooth and consistent operation so parts and supplies are located and distributed to proper areas/bins in an effective and efficient manner as needed to satisfy internal and external customer requirements. Responsible for maintaining receiving inventory controls and prepares related reports. The Lead is also responsible for training and/or retraining of warehouse staff members.

Requirements

  • Internal candidates must be at least a Production Operator II
  • Minimum of 3 years related work experience
  • Must be able to work 1st shift from 6am-2:30pm
  • Must be forklift certified or capable of becoming forklift certified at Biamp Systems within 3 months
  • Safely operate warehouse equipment
  • Ability to understand part numbering system
  • Possesses excellent verbal and written skills in English
  • Ability to adjust work pace and warehouse schedule in response to daily demand
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • May be required to alternate schedules to meet production goals
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and is able to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and diffuse challenging situations using acceptable and appropriate methods
  • Able to multi-task and be flexible in a dynamic work environment while maintaining strong attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, and SharePoint)
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs. frequently and up to 75 lbs. periodically
  • Stand or sit for long periods
  • Perform tasks (that may be repetitive) that require reaching, pushing, pulling, kneeling, walking, stooping and/or bending
  • Work in an environment that generates OSHA permissible machine noise levels
  • Use tools that require fine hand skills
  • Visually, observe and differentiate small moving parts
  • Ability to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as required in designated areas

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient with warehouse technology programs such as Microsoft Dynamics AX, CRM, and Cogiscan preferred
  • Training in and experience with Lean manufacturing principles preferred

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate warehouse activities to meet daily customer demand.
  • Responds to staff needs relating to technical and process issues and offers advice on proper work techniques and best practices.
  • Verifies quality of work performed, ensuring that all process and quality procedures are understood and followed by team members.
  • Assures all needed equipment is in the area for the employees and the equipment is ready for the following shift each day.
  • Ensures all safety policies are understood and followed by team members.
  • Responsible for leading tiered Daily Management System (DMS) meetings.
  • Promotes Continuous Improvement and Lean thinking and initiatives within the team.
  • Helps foster a culture of continuous improvement and works collaboratively to deliver measurable process gains.
  • Solves problems and escalate obstacles where applicable.
  • Conducts training of new and existing staff and maintains training/cross-training matrix.
  • Oversees area cycle count activities by ensuring processes and procedures are followed and ongoing inventory counts are maintained consistently.
  • Accurately executes corrective inventory adjustments in the appropriate system when necessary.
  • Assist in the daily warehouse activities such as inventory counts, picking customer orders, deliver material to stock area or point of consumption, process purchase orders and customer returns.
  • Monitors, maintains and communicates all warehouse and employee related issues in a timely manner and seeks all available resources to support when needed on all issues that are critical.
  • Encourage open communication and employee engagement to help improve employee morale.
  • Functioning as a learner in Toyota Kata Fact-based decision making and using problem solving skills to improve area performance
  • Leading and ensuring 6S discipline throughout assigned work areas
  • Additional duties as assigned by Supervisor
