About The Position

Job Duties: Leads day-to-day activities of shipping team members and trains new hires on shipping processes and procedures. Helps develop team members by providing training and development opportunities and delivering regular feedback. Develops and maintains a schedule for Shipping Techs to meet customer shipment demand. Works with the Shipping Specialists to consistently maintain the sales order backlog at least 2 – 3 days ahead. Warehouse bin locations are set up using an approved labeling methodology and maintained as stocked product and stocking levels change. Monitors the put away process and entry of goods in the ERP system so that all stock items are put away by the scheduled due date. Oversees department activities to pack, seal, label and affix shipping documents to prepare materials for shipping. Creates and maintains work instructions for all processes in the Shipping Department. Supports continuous improvement and LEAN efforts. Encourages and promotes a continuous improvement mindset. Addresses problems such as damage, shortages and nonconformance issues with the appropriate internal person(s). Keep record of damages and claims filed. Requisitions and stores shipping materials and supplies. Establish and conduct a stand-up meeting schedule. Demonstrates the Caldwell Company Values in all work activities. Maintains and enforces a clean and safe work environment. Trash and debris are removed throughout the day and clear aisles are maintained. Addresses defective tools and equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three years of domestic and export shipping experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Three years of experience using web-based carrier software and ERP software
  • Two years of leadership experience
  • One year of forklift and overhead crane experience
  • Strong knowledge of logistics and packaging processes
  • Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to read a tape measure
  • Proven basic math skills
  • PC proficiency using Word, Excel and Outlook
