The Warehouse Jockey performs warehouse, loading, inventory, and truck jockey duties under the direction of Warehouse Supervision. This position supports safe and efficient movement, storage, and shipment of finished goods while maintaining warehouse systems, DOT loading requirements, and mill logistics operations. This list is not all inclusive, and job duties can be added as needed. Safety & Compliance: Follow all mill safety policies and procedures. Maintain awareness of warehouse traffic, forklifts, clamp trucks, and pedestrian hazards. Complete daily equipment inspections and report defects immediately. Follow dock safety procedures including trailer lock systems and dock leveler operation. Maintain proper trailer loading safety and stability practices. Follow DOT basic loading guidelines under supervision. Maintain safe housekeeping within warehouse and dock areas. Quality Control & Record-Keeping: Verify roll counts and shipment quantities against paperwork. Assist with shipping documentation and inspection sheets. Complete forklift, clamp truck, jockey truck, and all other equipment inspection forms accurately. Learn inventory tracking and bin identification processes. Assist with inventory transfers using warehouse computer systems. Report damaged rolls or packaging issues. Maintain accurate paperwork submission to warehouse office. Equipment Operation & Process Control: Loading Operations: Operate forklift or clamp truck to load finished rolls or skids into trailers, cleaning trailers prior to loading. Place cardboard protection sheets and anti-skid mats. Follow weight distribution instructions. Stack rolls safely. Close dock doors and secure loading area after completion. Inventory Management: Move inventory between bins as directed. Assist with organizing warehouse storage areas. Learn warehouse bin numbering and layout. Transport broke rolls to recycling areas. Support inventory practices when assigned. Jockey Truck Operations: Operate jockey truck move finished trailers, raw material trailers, or empty trailers throughout mill grounds. Complete trailer identification and documentation procedures. Stage necessary trailers in accurate dock or storage location, ensuring proper door positioning and lock placement. Observe airline hookups and safety procedures. Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform daily equipment checks and report mechanical issues promptly. Maintain cleanliness of equipment and work areas. Monitor propane and fuel levels and fill when low. Assist with housekeeping and upkeep tasks.
