About The Position

The Columbus Plant is Abbott’s first manufacturing facility, known for producing quality nutrition products. The General Utility, Warehouse role involves a thorough working knowledge of all Plant Material Control and job functions, including applicable departmental equipment and systems such as Forklift, Cambar, AMAPS, and MITS. The Utility is responsible for line support, receiving, loading, unloading, creating bills of lading (BOL’s), assuming computer room responsibilities, and performing full functionality in the Shipping Office, all while maintaining compliance to GMP, safety, and quality guidelines. The role may also involve preventative maintenance, monitoring and responding to Plant and automation systems and equipment, and meeting safety and housekeeping requirements. The individual must also have the ability and leadership to cover operations in a supervisor's absence.

Requirements

Nice To Haves

  • 6+ months prior job experience within Plant Material Control
  • Experience with tools and equipment related to the position is desired (hand tools, wearing of full body harness, sit-down forklift, stand up pick vehicle, computer knowledge/skills)

Responsibilities

  • Having a thorough working knowledge of all Plant Material Control and job functions
  • Having knowledge of applicable departmental equipment and systems (Forklift, Cambar, AMAPS, MITS)
  • Providing line support
  • Performing receiving operations
  • Performing loading operations
  • Performing unloading operations
  • Creating bills of lading (BOL’s)
  • Assuming computer room responsibilities as needed
  • Performing full functionality in the Shipping Office
  • Maintaining compliance to all GMP, safety, and quality guidelines
  • Performing preventative maintenance (i.e. monitor and respond to Plant and automation systems and equipment)
  • Meeting all safety and housekeeping requirements
  • Having the ability and leadership to cover operation in supervisor absence
  • Creating very accurate & legible documentation for Receiving Operations
  • Performing data entry accurately for Receiving Operations
  • Maintaining all applicable databases with needed information for Receiving Operations
  • Efficiently processing inbound pallets through the proper process for Receiving Operations
  • Performing all tasks safely for Loading, Unloading, Casepicking, Barcoding and Palletizer Operations
  • Assuring accurate documentation for Loading, Unloading, Casepicking, Barcoding and Palletizer Operations
  • Following all process procedures / guidelines for Loading, Unloading, Casepicking, Barcoding and Palletizer Operations
  • Assuring trailers are loaded to meet weight requirements for Loading, Unloading, Casepicking, Barcoding and Palletizer Operations
  • Performing all tasks in an efficient & effective manner for Loading, Unloading, Casepicking, Barcoding and Palletizer Operations
  • Assuring all documentation is accurate for Shipping/Receiving Office Functions
  • Addressing people in a professional manner for Shipping/Receiving Office Functions
  • Assuring all databases are accurately maintained with timely entries for Shipping/Receiving Office Functions
  • Assuring BOL's are signed/dated by Common Carrier Driver and the Clerk during the shift for Shipping/Receiving Office Functions
  • Maintaining proper FIFO of finished products and FEFO of raw materials
  • Operating a forklift truck with a push-pull attachment (may include)
  • Storing, picking or assembling raw materials in the warehouse, verifying the commodity number, quantity, release status, and lot number
  • Checking materials against packaging lists, invoices, freight bills or other pertinent documentation to assure conformity and accuracy
  • Delivering materials to production lines in a timely manner
  • Maintaining proper FEFO flow of raw materials
  • Utilizing knowledge of both raw materials and finished product nomenclature
  • Cleaning up both raw material and finished goods warehouse areas
  • Being accountable for personal safety and adhering to the safety guidelines
  • Communicating safety and GMP concerns to Plant Material Control/Columbus Distribution Center leadership & follow up to assure the concerns are addressed
  • Being accountable for performing tasks that need completed in a timely manner or need expedited
  • Checking e-mail at the start of each shift when possible to assure all directives are addressed
  • Communicating to all shifts as to status of the business
  • Making decisions based on awareness of the area operations
  • Complying with applicable FDA (GMP), USDA, OSHA and Abbott Nutritional Supply Chain regulations, policies, procedures and guidelines
