About The Position

The Columbus Plant is Abbott’s first manufacturing facility, producing quality nutrition products. The Utility role is responsible for a thorough working knowledge of all Plant Material Control and Columbus Distribution Center (CDC) job functions, including applicable departmental equipment and systems such as Forklift, Cambar, HK Systems, TTMS, AMAPS, MITS, and AES. This position involves line support, receiving, loading, unloading, creating bills of lading (BOL’s), case picking, assuming computer room responsibilities, performing full functionality in the Shipping Office, and maintaining compliance to all GMP, safety, and quality guidelines. It also involves safely operating a yard tractor and may include preventative maintenance on Plant and CDC automation systems and equipment. The Utility must meet all safety and housekeeping requirements and have the ability and leadership to cover for Crew Leaders when needed.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • 2+ years of experience using forklifts
  • Forklift certified
  • 6+ months of job experience within distribution center warehousing operations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
  • In-depth knowledge of all receiving/warehouse operations, procedures, and requirements which usually are obtained through on-the-job training
  • Ability to successfully and safely operate a yard tractor
  • Ability and leadership to cover for Crew Leaders when needed

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with tools and equipment related to the position is desired (hand tools, wearing of full body harness, sit-down forklift, stand up pick vehicle, computer knowledge/skills)

Responsibilities

  • Creates very accurate & legible documentation, performs data entry accurately, maintains all applicable systems with needed information, and safely and efficiently process inbound pallets through the proper unloading process, including ensuring inventory is accurate when receiving product in to the WMS system (i.e. verifies the SKU, quantity, and lot number at each touch point)
  • Performs all tasks safely, assures accurate documentation and inventory accuracy at all touch points (i.e. verifies the SKU, quantity, and lot number at each touch point), follows all process procedures / guidelines, assures trailers are loaded to meet weight requirements, and performs all tasks in a safe and efficient manner to meet the needs of the business
  • Safely operating the palletizer equipment and shuttle wagon/switcher to meet business needs
  • Release orders from CAMBAR in a timely manner, assure all documentation is accurate, address people in a professional manner, assure all databases are accurately maintained with timely entries, assure BOL's are signed/dated by Common Carrier Driver and the Clerk during the shift
  • Cleans up finished goods warehouse areas to GMP standards and supports the master sanitation program of the department
  • Supports the Departments Continuous Improvement Program, including root cause analysis
  • All other tasks as assigned by management to meet the needs of the business
