This Warehouse Automation Specialist position can be responsible the installation, deployment, and ongoing maintenance/training of new warehouse automation technologies and support ongoing optimization opportunities. This role will work directly with internal operations, solution design, continuous improvement, and information technology to support the deployment of new and ongoing support of existing technology with automation partners.

Requirements

  • Strong troubleshooting skills for system-level issues across network, database, and application layers., Required
  • Strong planning, time management, collaboration, decision making, organization and presentation skills, Required
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team., Required
  • Problem-solver, curious, hands-on mentality., Required
  • H.S. Diploma/GED, Required
  • 1 year or more in Experience in a warehouse environment working with WMS, Required
  • Knowledge of all available material handling equipment and automation types such as: forklift applications, racking designs, packaging devices and automation design. Intermediate, Required
  • Industrial or Mechanical Engineering or with equivalent warehouse operational knowledge. Beginner, Required
  • Knowledge of Warehouse Management operations, data analytics, Industrial Engineering, warehouse types (ambient, temp control) and Lean methods. Beginner, Required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field of study, Preferred
  • 2 years or more in 2 years or more experience in warehouse automation, material handling technologies, industrial engineering or warehouse systems integration., Preferred
  • 1 year or more in Experience in warehouse automation that would preferably include some of the following, sortation conveyor, goods-to-person, autonomous vehicles/robots, ASRS’s, Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for troubleshooting, and improving on all interfaces of the WMS.
  • Working with the automation vendor for any system issues (i.e software updates, interface testing).
  • Coordinate maintenace events with the automation vendor and WMS team.
  • Lead analysis and resolution of work cause issues and report out to site leadership on root cause analysis for automation downtime events.
  • Owner of automation training in the use of hardware and software to users of the systems.
  • Ensure associates across all shifts and operations leadership are continually trained as new strategies are implemented, or as needed based on individual observation and/or metrics dictate.
  • Updates SOPs to reflect new strategies and system updates.
  • Provide training to new hires and track completion of training for all applicable personnel.
  • Work with operations to streamline processes through continuous improvement efforts as well as, leading troubleshooting activities, and correcting system issues.
  • Maintain proper slotting configuration (Rack and Pick slots) to ensure efficiency in the warehouse.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and repair of warehouse automation systems to include: conveyor systems, auto storage and retrieval systems, auto guided vehicles, and other electrical and control systems in the facility.
  • Assit on P1/System Outages related to automation and coordinate esclation with the vendor.
  • Assist with maintaining equipment, spare parts, and/or consignment inventories consistent with procedures.
  • Ensure a clean and organized maintenance area. Facility is always tour ready.
  • Participate in the ongoing development and improvement of automation operations policies, procedures, and other standard operating procedures for the facility.
  • Support vendor communication for minor projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
