About The Position

Mortenson is seeking dynamic and motivated individuals for a Wallin Construction Pathway Intern position, committed to crafting inspiring spaces and developing new ways to build. This internship offers opportunities to grow skillsets in various areas, working well with staff at all levels in an ever-changing environment, while remaining flexible, inventive, proactive, efficient, professional, and confidential. The distinguished national internship program provides an opportunity to work with various teams from the Golden Valley, Minnesota headquarters or on a project site in the Minneapolis region. This is a part-time internship during the academic school year (September 2026 – May 2027 and September 2027 – May 2028) and a minimum 12-week full-time internship during Summer (June – August 2027). Placement will be based on the overall needs of the organization.

Requirements

  • Planning to pursue an undergraduate, two-year degree in Construction Management from Dunwoody College of Technology beginning in Fall 2026
  • Were selected as a recipient of the 2026 Mortenson Pathway Scholarship
  • Have access to reliable transportation
  • Possess a current driver’s license
  • Are comfortable with exposure to dirt, heat, noise, dust, and a trailer office environment

Responsibilities

  • Championing Mortenson's zero injury safety requirements
  • Completing construction change orders
  • Handling shop drawings, submittals, and the request for information (RFI) processes
  • Assisting with purchase orders and subcontractor agreements
  • Partnering in construction sequencing and schedule maintenance
  • Collaborating with team in preconstruction and pre-installation meetings
  • Assisting with subcontractor coordination meetings and correspondence
  • Utilizing industry-leading technology and software to assist in construction processes
  • Supporting preparation and evaluation of bid packages
  • Consulting with subcontractors and material suppliers
  • Handling material procurement
  • Participating in architect and owner interaction
