Requirements

  • Hold a high school diploma or GED
  • Completion of DCF 45 hours
  • 1 year of experience in a children's classroom
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Possess one of the following: a CDA or FCCPC with VPK training, or a degree in education or child development, with specific qualifications for teaching children from birth through 8 years of age
  • Have genuine empathy and understanding of children's needs and development
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Exhibit flexibility and adaptability to meet community needs and respond to changing circumstances
  • Capable of meeting the physical demands of working with children

Responsibilities

  • Manage classroom activities
  • Foster a nurturing and positive relationship with both children and their families
  • Implement a wide range of learning experiences covering physical health, social-emotional development, and academic skills, including logic, language, literacy, and more
  • Conduct detailed assessments to tailor instruction and support each child's unique journey, including those with disabilities
  • Design both outdoor and indoor settings to encourage active, engaged learning
  • Adhere to stringent health and safety guidelines
  • Maintain thorough documentation
  • Ensure open communication with parents
